June 2, 2008 - BMP CHALLENGE is still accepting applicants for the 2008 Nutrient and Reduced Tillage BMP CHALLENGE programs. The program works in 15 different states throughout the mid-western and eastern United States, using locally recommended nutrient and tillage practices on corn-fields (for grain or silage). Corn producers work with a crop advisor to determine their nutrient or tillage strategies, set up a check-strip and assess their yields at harvest.
The program compares conventional practices on a check-strip to the recommended BMP rates adjacent to the check-strip.
Applications must be filled out prior to any nutrient application or tillage practices. Download the application by visiting the BMP CHALLENGE online for more information and forms.
